Sir Balin lead a tragic life, despite his desire to do great things in King Arthur’s name—he was let down by his rashness. He begins his story in King Arthur’s prison; shortly after release, he goes on to draw a cursed blade and slay another of Arthur’s knights, and allows his ward to be murdered while under his protection. He tries to avenge the murder, but in seeking revenge enacts The Dolorous Stroke on King Pellam, reducing the surrounding land to a Wasteland. On his final day, he slew his own brother, mistaking him for another knight, while succumbing to his own wounds.
